History

Mozambique is the country where we moved our first steps, in the last years of the civil war, giving assistance in particular to women and children, proving to the latter, where possible, the return to school.

In order to actively support the children and their families, from the beginning we promoted Children Sponsorship programs. The Sponsorship is still for us a fundamental way of donation, through which sponsors can guarantee a constant in time support.

From June 1998, we are registered to the National Registry of the ONLUS (Non-profit organizations).

Our projects expanded over time within and outside the African continent: in Zambia, Nepal e Cambodia. From 2002 to 2007, we also supported some hundreds amongst the poorest children in the outskirts of Luanda, in Angola.

In Italy, from 2005 to 2011, we implemented projects aimed at facilitating the intercultural dialogue and the integration of foreigner children.

In 2008 we obtained the ISO 9001 Quality Certification: for the Head Office in Genoa and the Beira Office in Mozambique. In 2009 also the offices in Vilankulo (Mozambique) and Kathmandu (Nepal) were certified. In 2010 the Office in Maputo (Mozambique).

An important turning point was the move to a new Office in Genoa, in Via di Scurreria at the end of 2009. We chose an office located in the middle of the Old Town, accessible from the road, so that it could be reached easily and physically represent our openness and transparency towards the public willing to meet us or to know more about our activities.

From December 2010, the room overlooking the street became a Toys of Solidarity shop, a real “charity shop”, the revenues of which are also allocated to our activities in the South of the world. The shop offers educational and recreational toys, produced exclusively by companies whose priorities are security, quality, novelty, and respect for the employee and for the environment.

In 2012 we won the “Budget Oscar” for the non-profit organizations promoted by Ferpi.
